Big and Small Moments

For the past few years I have been working in porcelain to create hundreds of miniature writhing human figures, and life-size portraits of teeth, insects, feathers, pebbles, and birds, all of which I assemble on pretty porcelain cakes.

This practice enables me to process my own history and the tragedies and occasions that swirl around us.

Big and Small Moments is a series of domestic monuments to life’s enchantments and perils. All moments, whether they're spent in pain or pleasure, deserve a tribute, so out of respect for this exquisite spectrum, I make cakes out of clay to honor them. The prettiness of the cakes and their corresponding plates is an invitation to explore the emotions evoked by the elements on top.
